Triethanolamine

Triethanolamine

Product introduction:

Triethanolamine (C₆H₁₅NO₃) is an organic compound belonging to the family of amino alcohols. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid with a mild ammonia-like odor. Due to its alkaline nature, it is widely usedfor neutralizing acidic compounds and adjusting pH in various formulations. Furthermore, the presence of three hydroxyethyl (-CH₂CH₂OH) groups provides high solubility in both water and alcohols.

Features and Benefits:

  • Alkaline nature
  • pH adjuster
  • Emulsifying agent
  • Emulsions stabilizer
  • Low toxicity and good biocompatibility

Applications:

  • Cosmetic & Personal Care: Acts as a pH adjuster, emulsifier, and stabilizer in a wide range of cosmetic and personal care products.
  • Detergents: Acts as a neutralizing agent for acidic compounds to maintain optimal pH in the final product. It also improves foam stability in liquid detergents.
  • Lubricants & Metalworking: Used as a corrosion inhibitor and acid neutralizer to protect metal surfaces and extend the lifespan of metal components. It is also used in the formulation of lubricants and metalworking fluids.
  • Building & Construction Industry: Used as an additive to facilitate cement grinding and improve concrete performance in cement and concrete manufacturing process.
  • Other Applications: Helps prevent algae growth in swimming pools, lakes, and freshwater systems.
